_Homework & Assignments
Homework assignments are given to reinforce what was taught at school and to work towards mastering objectives. Students will receive homework every night, even on the weekends. The homework will include daily homework, short term projects, long term projects, and daily reading.
To earn full credit on assignments, they must be turned in on the due date by 8:15 AM. Any Class Assignments not completed in class will be due the next day. Homework is normally due the next day in school from when the assignment was given, unless otherwise noted. Spelling Assignments are due the day of the unit test, normally Friday. Weekly Reading Log and Retelling Glove is due on the 1st day of the week with parent/guardian signature. Students will be graded using a rubric for all projects. Students must turn in the rubric with the project on the due date. If a rubric is not turned in, then I will grade it, but students and parents/guardians will not be able to see why their child got the score they did..

Missing Assignments
What Happens When a Student Does Not Turn in an Assignment on the Due Date at 8:15 AM
I understand that we all have busy lives and that students may not be able to complete every assignment on time. Therefore, I have setup the Three Strikes Certificate Program to turn in their assignment one day late and still earn full credit. All of the above procedures will still be followed on the day the assignment is late. The student will turn in the assignment on the next school day at 8:15 AM into the Missing Assignments Mailbox with "Strike Certificate" stapled to the top and the completed work on the bottom. to receive full credit and have ticket and fines removed.
- The student will receive a ticket for having a missing assignment and a zero with a Missing Indicator will be entered into PowerSchool.
- The student will work on the missing assignment at a silent/working lunch.
- Student has until upcoming Monday at 8:15 AM (or first day of the next week) to complete the assignment and turn it into the Late Bin.
- Each day, the Late Bin will be emptied at 8:15 AM and assignments will be marked with that days date. For each day late, the assignment will be deducted 5% points.
- Any work turned into the Late Bin after that Monday will only have the Missing Indicator removed.
- If the student is absent, on a due date, then it is due the first day they return to school at 8:15 AM.

Make Up Work
When a student is absent, a student helper or teacher records what was done in class that day on a What You Missed Form. When the absent student returns to school, it is their responsibility to look over the form, ask if they don't understand anything, and find out the exact due date. When they complete the work, they are to staple the assignments to the What You Missed Form and turn it in by putting the Late Bin in the morning by 8:15 AM. Any assignments not turned in on due date, will then be considered late and follow the above new policy.
When a student misses a class or part of a class, it is their responsibility to find out what they missed and what homework was assigned. They may ask a member in their team, Mrs. Nechvatal, or another classmate.
