Classroom Expectations
Classroom Economy
Using classroom “currency,” students earn money for jobs and pay rent for their desks. They can earn bonus cash by participating in extracurricular activities, helping others, and earning excellent grades. On the other hand, students who don’t meet classroom expectations will be fined some of their classroom dollars.
The classroom economy helps children to learn valuable life skills such as organization, the value of saving, and delayed gratification. Rather than being told about the importance of these skills, they actually experience them. In addition, the system fits in well with the other parts of our curriculum.
We’ll also have a little fun with it. After paying rent, students can save money to spend at monthly auctions where they get to bid on items everybody likes. The children will certainly enjoy themselves, and I know you will appreciate the skills and knowledge they learn along the way. We would also welcome any small items you would like to contribute to our auctions.

June Box
Teaching and learning time are two extremely important times during the day and students need to be on task during them. The June Box is for items that students were playing with during teaching or learning time. Those items may be picked up from Mrs. Nechvatal by a parent/guardian on the last day of school in June after dismissal. Those items not picked up will be donated, recycled, or thrown away.
Water Bottles
Students may have water bottles during class only to be filled with water. Please do not freeze the water bottle as this creates a pool of water which creates safety hazards and distracts in the classroom. Students are to keep the water bottle on the floor next to them. Students are not to play with the water bottle. If a student does not follow the above, then the student will no longer have the privelage of having a water bottle in class.
